What's that lump on the couch? Oh yeah. It's me.
It’s been over a week since A Streetcar Named Desire closed. Since then, I’ve gone into a laziness phase. It’s not good. The activity of the show kept me on the move, which meant I was healthier in my pregnancy. I don’t want to be as intensely active as I was in the show (oh the aches and pains that came along with that!), but I also don’t want to turn into a couch...

The Last Pregnancy
As I firmly enter the third trimester of my pregnancy, I am experiencing a myriad of emotions. This pregnancy has been relatively quick so far due to a busy schedule – primarily due to my time in A Streetcar Named Desire. I can’t believe that Baby Tres will be here in just a couple months!
As the moments tick by, the usual end-of-pregnancy questions of readiness pop in my head.
The nursery is far...

Unexpected visits from family or friends are often times joyous occasions. But the surprise arrival in the State College Community Theatre’s fourth summer production, Tennessee Williams’ masterpiece “A Streetcar Named Desire,” threatens to tear an entire family apart.
Set in post-World War II New Orleans, the drama chronicles the...

And I'm back...
A few months back I posted about all the things I needed/wanted to accomplish (e.g. NaNoWriMo completion, Nolan potty training, increase in craft time). I had such aspirations! Then, in late January, I discovered I was pregnant. I’ve got to tell ya… that puts a new spin on everything. If you have yet to be around me during the first trimester of a pregnancy, you are lucky. It’s...

New toy.
Apple is taking over my life, and I’m okay with that. I remember when I got my first Apple laptop. I was fed up with our PC and it’s chronic crashing tendencies. I lost a lot of work (I was an undergrad at that point) on that machine and had enough. A friend of ours was an Apple devotee and took every moment possible to sing the praises of his Mac. My girly side (sorry feminists!)...

Countdown.
I struggled with postpartum after the birth of Nolan. Depression and I have crossed paths in the past, so I was warned this might be an issue. Because I was nursing, I didn’t want to use medication unless necessary. I briefly tried therapy (so glad to have that chance to talk about my mother), but it was not effective. What was?
Craft time!
That’s right. Taking off my...
A Persistant Nolan.
NOLAN: Cookie, please.
ME: No.
NOLAN: Yes?
ME: No.
NOLAN: Yes way?
ME: Ummm...no.
NOLAN: No or YES?
ME: No.
NOLAN: Hmmmm...how about yes?
(How is one supposed to keep a straight face with this conversation? I certainly didn't.)
Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or...

In Memory of Grandpa Corky.
Today is the service for my Grandpa Corky. My heart hurts that I was unable to visit him on our last abbreviated visit to Wisconsin. I wish I could be there to say goodbye, but am comforted in the knowledge that his spirit is everywhere, so I can send him my love surrounded by my boys. And as I sit here to reflect on how he affected my life, I am flooded with warm memories. I couldn’t come up...

And my novel!!!
Whoop de doo. I wrote 50,000 words in November. Now what?
Don’t get me wrong. I am so proud of my feat. I can’t believe I did it! But I haven’t looked at my story once since I crossed the finish line. And that saddens me. I didn’t write 50,000 words for the sake of writing 50,000 words. I was writing a story, and I want to finish that story. Granted, once I finish, I...
More Apple tablet reports set my heart a-flutter →
I must admit, I get pretty giddy when I hear about new Apple toys being released. Not that I could afford this, but it makes me gooey just knowing about it.
A New Year.
I have a long to-do list for the new year and it’s difficult to get started when the list is so comprehensive. Now that Joshua and I made the decision to stay put in State College for almost three more years (at minimum), we need to set some roots.
First, we miss having a church family, and rectifying that absence is on top of our list. If you’ve heard about our almost comical search...

Recipe: Tomato Bruschetta →
If you’ve seen Julie & Julia without craving this recipe, then…well, um…I don’t know what to say. Can’t wait to try it myself! A big thank you to Susan Spungen for posting this online. YUM.

Flo Rida
I am taking a break from NaNoWriMo to gush about my husband, and one of the many reasons why I love him. I’m not sure if you are aware of this, but Joshua and I are dorks. You are aware? I see. Well, this should solidify that impression for you.
Last night, after the lights were out and we were ready to go to sleep, Joshua and I were (for some random reason) exchanging different phrases and...
